About
My research interests focus upon European Muslim immigration in the post-1945 era, particularly to Britain and Germany. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Durham and my thesis was submitted in May 2008. My thesis compared and contrasted post-1945 Muslim immigration into Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Bremen. In particular, it examined the impact that Britain's relatively liberal immigration policy and Germany's rigid guest-worker rotation phenomenon have had on the long-term integration of Muslim immigrants at a grassroots level. It looked specifically at the employment, housing and education sectors.
Other research interests include European regional identities, diaspora, migration and religion, place and space, and ethnic minorities in Europe.
