About
I am interested in research topics relating to Saidean Orientalism, French Orientalism - specifically the writings of Gobineau and Renan - and travel writing on the Middle East.
I have recently completed a study of writing about Muslim identities in modern English writing. It considers British, American, Arab-American and Iranian writers of the 1990s, and contemporary work composed post 9/11. I have also written several essays this year (2011) to commemorate the centenary of Ameen Rihani’s "Book of Khalid", one of which will be published in the USA, and one in Lebanon.
